About Hafsa Khizer
Award winning, Toronto based Visual Artist, Illustrator and Digital Artist with a background in Sociology and Creative Design.
I make art that is meaningful to me, as a means of healing, processing and exploring my personal experiences and inner world. I am interested in creating purpose driven conceptual art.
Some of my art is meant to encourage curiosity, and advocate for social change. Others explore my identity and spirituality, or are intended to start discourse around issues I care about, as I change and grow as a person. Often my work is based on images I have envisioned or dreamt of for a long while before I feel the need to paint them.
I started out making Islamic art in a collection called “The Reminder Series”, basing my pieces on islamic stories of hope and healing, from lessons that touched my heart while studying the Quran from cover to cover. Since then, I’ve explored other mediums, below.
5% of every purchase made, is donated to Orphan sponsorship efforts, through Islamic Relief Canada. ‘Blessed is the wealth of the Muslim, from which he gives to the poor, the orphan and the wayfarer’ (Sahih Muslim).

Each painting has a story and is based on a verse from the Quran that was personally inspiring, and based on reflections from deeper study of the Tafseer.
Sizes start at 16″X20″ and go all the way up to 20″X80″ or are comprised of sets of canvases together. Mini canvases come with small easels.

Poured and mixed by hand, and embellished with gold foil, vibrant colors, real dried flowers and Islamic messages.
Every item is hand made and comes out unique, and may have some some perfect imperfections in it, and that character is just part of the beauty of the handmade process.
Resin starts out wet, and dries like a crystal clear plastic.

Islamic Skull Art
This unique edgy collection is for the skull loving alternative muslim.
It features delicate hand picked flowers preserved in resin skulls, with spiritual messages like “Speak good or remain silent”, “To him we belong and to him we will return” and “Every soul shall taste death”.
Inspired by my love for both flowers and skulls, woven together with the common thread of spirituality, exploring the ultimate truth, that our bodies are just temporary vehicles, In a temporary world of pain, for our eternal souls not yet having reached home. Skulls hold the duality of death, and infinite life. All of us are the same underneath our skin and clothes, all that will be left is our bones. It’s scary and delicate and beautiful.

Conceptual Art Prints
Started in 2018, in a series called “26”, This collection is hand painted Acrylic on canvas, and continues to grow annually based on my personal experiences.
The paintings are based on real personal X-rays and medical imaging. It was created to explore themes around the concepts of ‘home’, self-love, heartbreak, chronic pain, and body autonomy.
This collection is only available as prints, and the originals are not for sale.
